Character Information
Character Name: Laura
Species: Laura is half Kryptonian

History of Character:
She was born December 14, 2014. She is the first-born daughter of Clark Kent and April. She recently graduated high school, celebrated her 18th birthday and is attending the first year of medical school to get her doctor's degree.

Her parents met in a multiverse in 2005 (Smallville timeline), they were first friends, then after five years of dating were married. Their first born was Jonathan, and Laura was born two years after her brother.

It was always interesting to grow up in Smallville, Kansas, especially when her father lives a double life, one as a journalist for the Daily Planet, and also as the hero Superman. Laura was told at an early age about her special heritage, mostly because she started showing signs of superstrength at age four, the same year that Lex Luthor became president elect of Earth (2018).

She was always an inquisitive mind, the one who would go frog hunting with her brother, climb trees with an apple in one hand and a book in another hand, and once she entered school she was always the top of her class. Her love of reading, passion for studying and dedication to her school work allowed Laura to skip a grade, and graduate at 16.

Her love of reading and education has led Laura to taking college-level classes earlier in her life, and one of her goals is to become a doctor. Especially with her unique powers, she feels that being a doctor would be an asset to other superheros who need someone they can trust with their secrets.

Laura's father didn't feel that Lex was a threat anymore, but he still educated his children about their Kryptonian powers. This was especially important when Laura demonstrated superspeed at age eight. Of course when puberty hit, she had a lot of difficulties with the manifestation of her heat vision, and still struggles controlling that power.

World History
The history of Laura starts with the success of her father, and all his struggles, as seen through the Smallville TV show. Of course, her father had a lot more success in facing some issues than some of his counterparts because he had April in his life. Laura was never taken to April's world, the Buffyverse, so all her history and defining moments can be taken from Smallville.

Clark might have succeeded against many enemies and foes, but he was not the only one that faced challenges in his life. Laura too has faced challenges to achieving her destiny. And perhaps, that is because she was always meant to find the pathway to Narnia and achieve her destiny there.

One defining moment in her life was during Grade 6, of course this was after she skipped Grade 5 and was of course younger than all the rest of the students. Laura saved her first life at the tender age of 10. Her teacher had an Anaphylactic shock, and she took action quickly to inject the epinephrine. It was that moment that Laura knew she wanted to do become a doctor, and started her first steps towards her passion for medicine.

During high school, Laura again excelled in the sciences, and for the first time in her education took biology classes. Her professor was so impressed with her dedication that he recommended her for a scholarship at the time of her graduation. It gave Laura the confidence she needed to enter medical school at a young age. It was especially an adjustment for her, getting used to living in a dorm instead of at home.

Why this character: Laura would be an interesting addition to Narnia, and perhaps offer a character with medical knowledge and interest to a land in need of new adventurers. She is mature enough to take new risks and explore Narnia fully, but responsible enough to be cautious about it.

Personality
During her school years, Laura had a lot of friends, but connected better with those at a higher age level than herself. While she is intelligent, she is not a snob about the education level she has achieved, and attempts to connect with new friends whenever she has an opportunity. Laura was raised to be accepting of other cultures, races, and even species because of the own mixed-species marriage of her parents. And her younger siblings are each unique in their own abilities, and Laura was always there to give a helping hand in the care of her siblings. She is a protective sister too, but gives her siblings the room they need to grow, by nurturing their passions and creativity.

Laura loves to explore new worlds and new possibilities. She would see Narnia as an opportunity to grow and meet new friends. Laura is not afraid to embrace a new adventure, and would be curious about her new surroundings.

Her mind is that of a scientist, which would have Laura looking for samples of all kinds of new fauna and flora in Narnia, and of course trying to find out if there were any similar medicinal purposes for samples she finds. Laura is also a creative person, especially when it comes to figuring out solutions to a problem. While Laura is a scientist at heart, she is still accepting of 'fantasy' creatures such as talking animals and other oddities that one might find in Narnia. She would not doubt the magic, but curious about it.

Laura usually has a plan for everything and a lot of thought and deliberation to her actions. She looks out for her younger siblings, and will take responsibility if something happens while Mom or Dad aren't home. Laura loves to read, and is often found with books that contain complex education materials.

Abilities/Strengths and Weaknesses: Laura has superspeed, superstrength, increased durability, and heat vision. Her Kryptonian heritage does mean she has a weakness to the presence of Kryptonite.

Writing Samples:
First Person Sample
I want to find my own path. University has challenged me recently, and I am excited to take a whole new semester of courses. But there is something missing in my life, and I can't quite explain what it is.

I love my siblings, but they seem to be the only ones who understand the difficulties of being born unique. And there are some things in my life that I can't share with them. I know that there are others out there... others who are looking for more in their life, for adventure, for their own path.

The first step was leaving home to go to university, but there is going to be so much more out there for me. I can just feel it. I know tomorrow will be a new day and I am looking forward to embracing it.

Third Person Sample:
Laura: It was a typical day for Laura, as she had brought an armful of books outside to her favorite chair on the deck. It was always nice to sit and enjoy the bright sun of the afternoon, reading through challenging reading material for her age. Of course, Laura first started to read at the age of two, and never stopped. She found a love for books -- one that she always found time for.
The other children were out and about doing their own thing. Giving her time to truly get through a full book without interruption.
Laura loved her other siblings, but it was nice not to have to watch over them right now. It seemed that some of the younger ones were always getting in trouble, and it came to either Laura or her older brother Jonathan to come to the rescue.
The books were her favorite escape. Laura gladly took pleasure in not having to worry about anything but what she read. Not being the 'daughter of Superman', not dealing with her own developing Kryptonian powers, and not having to worry about if the other children were causing trouble or not. Today was all about the books. It was a good day.
